During your grocery shopping....

When to Shop
Pick your shopping time carefully. Try to avoid the busy shopping times so you won't have such long lines. You will have to take your time, comparing prices, etc. So you should try to cut the time down anywhere else you can. However, if you do have the time and are not rushed, I find that the businest times are the times the cashier doesn't check the date on my triple coupons. These are the busy times to shop:

  • after work
  • prior to big storms
  • payday
  • prior to holidays

Grocery Shopping

Have a spot in the front of your coupon box for the coupons that you know will be using on this trip to the grocery store. This will save you some time. Also take the circular with you so after walking the isles, you can flip through it to see that you got everything you wanted.

Keep you eyes open for the overpriced items while shopping (see "Free Groceries"). Know your coupons and be aware of what you need and what is on sale as not everything will be in the circular. Analyze the different brands of certain items by checking your coupons and comparing them to the other brands that you don't have coupons for. This is the time to use your calculator if necessary. I have found many instances where a different brand is cheaper than the one I have a coupon for.

Walk the isles. Look at the sales items and the potential free items; however, stick to your list for items taht are not going to be stocking your pantry.
